Glenmuir played an enteraining home game against Woodview Celtic on Sunday the 29th January. Glenmuir got off to a great start scoring in the first few minutes when Liam McStravick was put through down the right and he carried the ball into box and shot accross the goal into the bottom left corner.
From the restart the Glenmuir midfield of Nathan Kirk, Kyle Connolly, Liam Mcstravick pressed Woodview and a few minutes later the glens midfilder Samuel was put in down the right wing with an excellent ball from Kyle Connolly, Samuel still had a lot of ground to cover and was put under pressure by the Woodview defender Nellis however Samuel held him off to make it into the box and shot across the goal to score the first of his three goals. Samuels 2nd and 3rd came from similar play down the right and using his speed and strenght he managed to get into the Woodview box to slot the ball home.
Glenmuir didn't have it all their own way as Woodview tightened things up and started to push further up the field and Glenmuir defenders Cian Mulligan, Nathan Hearty & James O'Connell had to be quick with any Woodview break and Aaron Dunlop was called upon to make severals saves. Woodview pressed forward and won a series of throw-ins and corners on the right and it was from one of these throws that they scored their goal. The ball was thrown over the defenders and dropped to the woodview striker who hit a nice low strike into the bottom right corner
The second half was a closer game and both sides went on the attack but both defences dealt with any danger. Glenmuir pressed from midfield with some good passing from Robbie Ryan, Andrew Cummins & Cormac Ryan in midfield but could breech the Woodview defence. Woodview did hit Glenmuir on the break several times but thanks to the defending of Nathan hearty, Niall Kilgallen & Leon Browne their shots went wide of the Glenmuir goal.
Glenmuir's fifth goal came from a corner and after some good movement in the box by Tom watkins and David Weir Woodview failed to clear the ball and it dropped to Kyle Connolly to shoot home
Glenmuir Utd Team: Aaron Dunlop, James O'Connell, Nathan Hearty, Cian Mulligan, Nathan Kirk, Kyle Connolly, Liam McStravick, Samuel Ezenwaka, Tom Watkins, Robbie Ryan, Cormac Ryan, Andrew Cummins, Leon Browne, David Weir, Niall Kilgallen.
