St.Dominics 3-3 Glenmuir Utd
Two late goals salvaged a a hard earned point for under 12 premier league leaders St.Dominics in this six goal thriller with Glenmuir Utd in Bellew Park in a very exciting encounter on Sunday morning.St.Dominics were on top in the early stages and took the lead when the impressive Josh Todd slotted home Jack Duffy’s pass. Andrew Connolly fored Glenmuir keeper Aaron Fee into a good save in the 18th minute. Glenmuir striker Peter McStravidi then took centre stage, he went close with an effort in the 23rd minute and St.Dominics did’nt heed the warning as a minute later the lively McStravidi scored the equaliser and in the 26th minute he scored his second goal after a superb pass from Mark Gilgalon to put his team 1-2 ahead. Darren Geoghen went desperately close for St.Dominics after the restart when he was inches away from connecting with Andrew Connolly’s dangerous cross but it was Glenmuir who went 1-3 ahead in the 11th minute when Peter McStravidi scored his hat-trick when he won the race to Daniel Mullen’s superb through ball to hook it over the advancing Ciaran McGlynn. Glenmuir seemed to think the game was won and allowed St.Dominics right back into the game, Andrew Connolly and Ultan McEneaney went close and in the 24th minute it was 2-3 when Josh Todd’s effort took a wicked deflection off a Glenmuir defender. The home side now piled on the pressure and Glenmuir keeper Aaron Fee produced two good saves to prevent Josh Todd and Kieran Lennon from scoring but he could do nothing to prevent the equaliser in the 28th minute when Josh Todd got on the end of Jack Duffy’s cross for a tremendous equaliser. Back came Glenmuir and with three minutes left Peter McStravidi raced clear of the St.Dominics defence but Ciaran McGlynn produced a terrific save and the game finished with honours even.
